Cartographer

Cartographers carry out mapping and charting work. Although, as in many other jobs, computers do much of the donkeywork, there still remains much that must be done by hand. Employment opportunities exist in the civil service, for instance in the Ordnance Survey Department. Also, all branches of the armed forces employ cartographers. The work involves various aspects of cartography, topographic surveying, and hydrography: also chart and map production.
