Electrical engineering technicians are involved in the production and distribution of electricity to offices, schools, factories, hospitals and homes. They are engaged in the building, operation and maintenance of all the electrical equipment. In factories and large manufacturing and engineering companies they maintain and repair the electrical equipment. In commercial and industrial premises they will be involved in preparing, installing and testing equipment and wiring systems. In the manufacture of electrical and electronic appliances the job is more that of a production technician. Usually, the job is done in normal working hours, but sometimes the work is done in shifts. Also, some jobs have a deadline, or there may be other special circumstances. The work is carried out in power stations, research facilities, factories, offices or workshops and can be indoors or outdoors.
