Technical administrators provide access to the Internet and the intranet for their customers: they control access to the various websites, provide web space and e-mail services. They also assist customers with their queries about using the Internet service. They also ensure that the service stays on-line as much as possible, and when faults occur they fix them quickly: they also maintain the protective firewalls that prevent unauthorised access and keep a continuous check running for viruses. The working hours are normally office hours, but as the service runs for 24 hours a day, some shift work is also necessary.
