Translators usually convert material in one or more foreign languages into their own mother tongue. Mostly they work on business, scientific and technical, medical or other specialised areas. Literary translation is very complex, as it is necessary to translate the feeling as well as the meaning of the original. Translators usually specialise in a particular field or fields, and therefore have to keep up to date in their specialities by reading journals, books etc. Most of this work is done on a computer, and much of the time translators work on their own.
