Nursery/primary teachers work with children from 3 to 7-8 years old. It is the teachers’ aim to develop the personality and capabilities of each child. They teach the children to get along in a group. In a playful manner, they explore important topics with the children. The teachers consider the (development) wishes of each child and motivate him or her to further activity. They watch their pupils closely to recognise as early as possible backsliding, regress or deviation in development. The contact with the parents is important, too. Nursery/primary teachers set up individual talks with parents and also organise parent-teacher evenings. They work independently, under their own responsibility. Certainly children can be a strain, nerve-wracking even - yet, love for children is the prerequisite for this occupation. If you do not love them, leave it.
