Set designers work for theatres, television and film studios and design the layout of the various scenes in the piece to be performed. They must often do research to ensure that everything included in the set does not display any anachronisms, for example, and are appropriate to the action that is to take place therein. Especially in theatrical set design, a prime requirement is that each set can be quickly and efficiently changed for the next one. Other requirements that must be borne in mind whilst set designing is to allow for the actors to be able to move as the script demands, and also to take into consideration the different camera angles and camera movement in television and film work. They must also be always conscious of having to stay within the budget allotted for their activities in the overall production costs.
