Radiographer
Diagnostic radiographers must have a degree in diagnostic radiography. They use various imaging techniques such as X-rays, ultrasound, nuclear magnetic resonance and computerised tomography scans in order to diagnose diseases or injuries, or to monitor the patient’s progress during treatment.
Therapeutic radiographers need a degree in radiography. They administer radiation treatment to patients, usually in the treatment of cancer. They take care of the patient’s needs during the course of the treatment, and will develop a relationship with them during what is often a very difficult time for the patient: this closeness is a very important part of the treatment.
