Horse Groom
Their work starts very early in the morning and sometimes ends late. They feed the horses twice a day, currycomb them, tend their hooves, saddle and bridle them for riding and clear out their boxes. They ensure every horse has daily exercise and train them at different paces on a lunge. Sometimes they ride the horses themselves. They treat (injured or ill) horses themselves according to the vet’s instructions. They are also in charge of the care of the stables and riding areas. They work on a rotational basis some weekends, too. An important part of their work is establishing mutual trust and confidence between themselves and their animals.
