Insurance broker

Description / Description
Insurance brokers advise people which insurance company and which policy is the most appropriate for their needs. Usually they will be able to recommend a standard book rated scheme, but sometimes it will be necessary to arrange a 'made-to-measure' policy. They are paid on a commission basis from the insurance companies whose policies they sell, but it is a legal requirement that they put their clients' interests first. Insurance brokers will often have started their career working for an insurance company, later switching to brokerage work. In a large company they might specialise in a particular area of insurance, while in a smaller company they will probably handle many types of insurance.
