Veterinary Nurse

Veterinary Nurse
Description / Description
Veterinary nurses assist the vet. During working hours, they do jobs in the lab. and administrative work in the office. They look after the animals, prepare them for X-rays and complete the necessary documentation. During operations they prepare the necessary instruments and machines. They watch over the operated animal and tend them. They analyse blood, urine and faeces samples in the lab. On the administration side, they make appointments, order material and medicine, and update the patients’ files. They keep the practice clean and tidy and sterilise the operation and examination instruments. The difference between a rural and a town or city practice is quite substantial. Veterinary nurses must be aware that the owners of the animals are very attached to them, and so must also have an ability to empathise with people as well as with animals.
