Description / Description
Marketing managers are in charge of all the marketing activity of a firm, or may be pert of a team of managers working under a marketing director in a larger firm. Using the results provided from market research they plan the products and sales strategy of the firm, the advertising plans and the quantities of products the firm should budget for. They should also be prepared to explain their decisions to the board of directors.
They must have good communication skills and be able to deal easily with all the different departments within and outside the company with which they must maintain good working relationships. A good knowledge of international trade and exchange rates will often be required in some companies.
The job may well require overseas travel and periods spent away from home: a driving license is usually required.
