Textile operatives look after the automatic and usually computer controlled machinery to ensure that it continues to operate smoothly and efficiently. Work also includes loading and unloading of goods, starting, monitoring and cleaning the machinery. The first stage is the preparation of the fibres that are drawn out and then spun into a yarn. The yarn is then made into a fabric by a variety of different processes. The fabric then undergoes a variety of finishing processes such as dyeing, printing etc.
