Textile technicians work in leading positions in the textile industry, for instance as production department head. They have a broad fundamental knowledge of textiles, as well as special training in one or two areas. They conceive new products, bring them into production and then further refine them. They take care of procedures and machinery and are in charge of quality control. Textile technicians can also compile new collections, advise customers as to their buying requirements or even be in control of the whole company organisation. Wherever we are we are surrounded by textiles: clothing, furnishing materials, and hundreds of materials for special purposes: for instance sailcloth, car seat covers, fire-retarding material; the list is endless.
