This work involves the repair and the spraying of damaged vehicles. In most cases body parts are removed and replaced with new ones, but in some cases this is not possible and replacement parts must be made from sheet metal. When a vehicle is very badly damaged, it is often necessary to straighten the chassis first: this usually requires placing the vehicle on a power-assisted jig which then pulls it into shape. When damage is only slight, it is usually repaired with filling, which is then rubbed down. After all the repairs have been carried out the vehicle is taken to a paint shop where it is given several coats of paint.
