Display designer

Display designer
Description / Description
In former times this job would have been called 'window dresser'. However, these days a display designer has to take much more into consideration than just arranging wares in a window. The way a store is advertised in newspapers or on television will have a considerable influence on how the window display is designed. The store will have an 'image' that it wishes to promote. Sometimes merchandise advertised in the window will have a tie-in to currently showing films, etc. Goods are also displayed inside the store, of course, and customers will be able to ask to see different examples of the things they're interested in. Display design is planned many months in advance and takes into account the profile they have built up of the store's customers. Display designers also work at trade fairs, conferences etc.
