Electrical fitters install the complete electrical network with all its complementary devices and apparatus in new buildings and renovations. They also install – i.e. in telecommunications or in electronic control plants - demanding complex networks and plants. They often work together with the suppliers who have delivered the machines or facilities. Lastly, they check that all is in order. They locate and correct malfunctions, repair and maintain the systems. They may do the repairs on site or take the malfunctioning part into their workshop. If they repair on site, they must be very careful as it is not always possible to turn off the electricity to the part being worked on - so they use insulating mats and well-insulated tools to work with. Electrical fitters should love machinery in any form and enjoy the constant change of working places.
