The work of a dental technician involves making appliances as prescribed by a dentist. These may be crowns and bridges, which are permanently fitted into the mouth onto the prepared foundations of the teeth; prosthetics, which are dentures which can be removed from the mouth; orthodontic appliances, which are clasps made to straighten a patient's teeth; and assisting in maxillo-facial surgery, in which artificial parts are made to fit for a surgeon’s usewhen reconstruction or remodelling surgery is done.
