Bookbinders (or print finishers, a more modern name) are the last link in the chain of the graphics industry. Theirs is the job of clothing the finished product such as brochures and magazines or books. Their work involves using many different materials in the different phases of the work, much of which now involves using computerised machines and production lines.
Limited edition work still involves craft and handwork. For the really ambitious bookbinder there is still a small demand for the highly-skilled handbinding such as with leather for books.
