Midwife (Registered)

Midwife (Registered)
Description / Description
Registered midwives look after and advise women who are pregnant or who are wanting to become pregnant. If there are no complications expected during childbirth, and the woman wishes to have the baby at home, for instance, the midwife will perform the delivery: if complications are expected, however, she will call on the assistance of an obstetrician, and the delivery will be done in a hospital. She provides care and advice from sometimes as early as a few months before conception up until one or two months after the baby is born. As well as providing assistance to mothers at home, midwifes may also work in hospitals, general practices and health centres.
