Hotel porter

Description / Description
Hotel porters should always present a smart appearance and have a friendly disposition, as they are normally the first person a guest sees when they arrive at a hotel, and so it is very important for the porter to give a good impression. The porter assists and advises the guests on arrival, arranges the transfer of their luggage and answers any questions the guest might have about the locality in which the hotel is situated. Overnight porters in smaller hotels will often have to handle a wide range of jobs, such as checking in and out of guests, providing room-service and generally doing any necessary tasks. In larger hotels, there may be several porters and all the different activities are handled under the guidance of the head porter.
