When we think of biology, we tend to think of botany and zoology. Today, however, biology is divided in to organismic and molecular biology. Organismic biology is the study of all organisms, whether animal or plant and their relationship with the environment and each other. Molecular biology, as its name suggests, studies the molecular level in cells, genes, etc. in order to understand better why things behave or happen as they do.
Biological research is conducted in the field and in the laboratory, and can be fundamental or applied. The results of the studies can affect many other different sciences such as medicine, pharmacy, agronomy, biotechnology or environmental studies.
