Bookmaker

Description / Description
Bookmakers (turf accountants) accept bets from the public in licensed betting offices to gamble on almost anything, of which horse races are the most usual, but bets on the results of other events such as football matches, elections, etc. are also taken. Working hours are flexible, and senior staff will need to be tactful in dealing with customers’ problems and complaints. Also all staff and especially managers must be security conscious, as the office will frequently handle large sums of money. Due to the strict regulations governing betting, all accounts and records must be meticulously kept, so staff must be painstaking and exact in their working.
