Camera operators in film work are responsible for capturing the film director's visualisations on to film. This entails the need for close co-operation and often a lot of patient's, because the film business has a reputation for involving people of high temperament and who can often be difficult to work with. Camerawork for TV has other demands: often the transfer of information is more important than the artistic content. Certain work, such as the covering of sporting events or newsgathering (such as accident reporting), filming demonstrations or war reporting are extremely demanding and not every operator volunteers or qualifies for them. Camera operators can work for employers such as television stations or they can work as a freelance.
