Machine printers operate and maintain the smooth running of printing presses. There are several types of printing methods: letterpress, lithography, screen-printing, gravure and flexography. Much printing work nowadays is computer-controlled, but the printing plates have to be mounted on the press by hand, together with the ink and paper or other material to be printed upon. After making the necessary adjustments during a test run, they set the press running after which they remove the print job and clean the machine in readiness for the next job.
