Call centre operator

Call centre operator
Description / Description
Work in a call centre is quite varied. The work might entail answering incoming calls at a switchboard, answering queries from the public, taking orders or bookings – such as for trains, flights or theatres and cinemas, giving technical advice, giving information on times and prices for trains or flights, etc.
Other work entails making calls aimed at selling something, such as goods or insurance, or surveying public opinion on a variety of topics depending on the company doing the researching. These operators must keep to a strict timetable of so many calls within a certain time, which calls for succinct and clear speaking. They must also keep a log of the details of all their calls in a computer.
The normal weekly hours are 35 – 40 and salaries vary between £9000 and £25,000 p.a.
