Systems Analyst

Description / Description
Systems analysts analyse the way a business runs and work out IT solutions to improve efficiency. They work for large organisations such as government departments, banks, insurance companies and supermarkets. They work closely with programmers, designers and commercial staff to figure out whether a new system will produce benefits that will outweigh the costs, and, if so, propose modifications or a replacement system. They will then install and test the proposed new system, carry out any necessary adjustments and fine-tuning of the new system and subsequently assist with the training for the clients. The programming process is nowadays mostly automated by the use of computer-assisted software developing (CASE) tools. Ensuring data security and compatibility with existing systems is also in important part of the work.
